Wimbledon Odds: In Whose Favor Are They?

With so many unexpected outcomes during the French Open (except probably the fact of who would be a champion), everyone is interested in Wimbledon odds. We'd like to take a look at all the possibilities and analyse what to expect.

On the men's side:

1. Roger Federer. A couple of years ago one would have little doubt that "King Roger" would win the trophy. Besides, he is the last year champion. But lately Roger's performance was not that good and his early elimination in French Open didn't give us confidence about his capability to win the Wimbledon.

2. Rafael Nadal. The king of clay is not playing that good on the grass surface, though he is definitely one of the favorites and we can surely envision him as a winner of Wimbledon. Again.

3. Novak Djokovic will surely do anything that in his power to win the trophy once again and gain more confidence for the next Grand Slam.

4. Andy Murray is undoubtedly the most favorite player in the tournament. His last year Olympic gold medal earned on grass, and support from all his countrymen makes him a likely candidate for this year Wimbledon trophy.

On the women's side:

1. Serena Williams. One would think that something really unexpected should happen for Serena not to defend her last year trophy and become Wimbledon winner again. I'd put most odds in her favor.

2. Maria Sharapova should stay focused and play a really great game to win the tournament. Though if she is "lucky" enough to play with Serena the odds would not probably be in her favor.

3. Victoria Azarenka might beat Maria, but will she be able to withstand Serena's power? We are about to see in a while...

U. S. Open Fashionistas – Fab Five in 2012

We miss you, Rafael Nadal. We miss watching you zip back and forth across the court, we miss your good nature, but as a regular on our Fab Five list, most of all…we miss your style! Nevertheless, we did find five deserving candidates for this year’s list, and our apologies to the Williams sisters. Because they were mentioned in another of our U. S Open posts, we wanted to give accolades to additional deserving candidates – but again, you did look terrific this year ladies…please keep up the good work! All of our lucky choices this year looked great, so here they are in no particular order.

Roger Federer, U.S. Open 2012

With a nod to the good old US of A, Roger Federer looks dapper in this red, white and blue ensemble. As usual, Roger’s attention to detail - with the bright-red accented sleeves and pockets - is phenomenal…ACE! Check out Roger's styles in more detail here.
From day to night, Maria’s
choices this year were spot on!!
 We particularly love the light
pink day outfit…a lovely
complement to her rosy
skin tone!
Check out Maria's style in more
detail in our fashion review.
Angelique Kerber, U.S. Open 2012

A Fab Five first-timer, Angelique Kerber is bright (but not too bright) and lively in this smart getup from Adidas! Sadly, it takes more than a cute outfit to defeat the feisty Sara Errani!

Na Li, U.S. Open 2012

With a tasteful blend of bright color and crisp, clean white, Na Li is pretty in pink! Check out her style here.

Sporting a stylish combination of white and navy with subtle orange accents, Andy Murray is comfortably classic…well done, old chap! Check out Andys' adidas style in our review.

US Open 2012 Tennis Fashion. Day 10: Roger Federer Loses to Tomas Berdych While Andy Roddick Retires

Day 10 was a real shocker for all tennis fans. Not only it was the last day for Andy Roddick on tour (after his loss to Juan Martin Del Potro, Andy retires), but also an outrageous loss of Roger Federer to a young Czech Tomas Berdych just in 4 sets... After Roger's win of Wimbledon, he was the main favorite of this year championship... So... though we hoped to do this review on the final day, we have to do it now. Let's have a look at what Nike have created for Roger Federer this year.

Trendy Tennis Best 2012 French Open Fashion: Fab Five Royal Court

It’s June, and we all know what that means. The heavy, red clay at Roland Garros promises long, well-crafted points and exciting French Open tennis!

As is the case at any Grand Slam tournament, we have learned to expect the unexpected…like the early ousting of Serena Williams by French woman, Virginie Razzano and the first-round spanking Andy Roddick took from Frenchman Nicholas Mahut.

Along with a few “downs” however, always come a few “ups.” After losing his qualifying match for a spot in the tournament, Belgian David Goffin was allowed in anyway following an emergency withdrawal from another qualifier – and then proceeded to win the next three matches!

And of course, in a sea of tedious and not-so-tasteful tennis styles, there were a few stand-out looks that caught our eye. Take a look at our top picks for a fashion-forward Fab Five Royal Court!

King Roger:

Yes, we know…he always makes the cut, but what can we do? The man’s got style! Dark gray makes a bold contrast against the rich, orange clay and the pop of bright yellow seals the deal for our coveted…

Queen (for a day) Serena:

The one time we actually want to see more of her, Serena is taken out in the first round! This lovely, pale aqua dress beautifully complements her skin tone and stands out against the burnt orange clay. Cute, matching accessories earn Serena our esteemed…

Fab Five #2.

Sky blue is far and away the BEST color against the clay. A great fit and hints of bright orange bestow

Fab Five #3 to…

Prince Gilles

Princess Sloane Stephens:

How did this Fab Five newcomer keep her outfit so brand-spanking clean? This cute Under Armour ensemble also looks cool and comfortable giving it a deserving…

Fab Five #4.

Lady in Waiting Nina Bratchikova:

We love the cut of this cute halter dress by Lotto. A matching visor, shoes and wrist band would have earned Nina one of the top spots but she will (no doubt) be pleased with our…

Roger Federer at Mutua Madrid Open 2012. Tennis Look of the Week

This year's Mutua Madrid Open was full of surprises, having favorites of the tournament leaving early on. Was that because of that strange blue clay everyone was slipping on? Rafael Nadal actually complained about the blue clay and said he would not play next year unless the blue clay court was changed. Anyway, while choosing our Tennis Look of the Week, we decided to give this week's choice to Roger Federer who also has become Mutua Madrid Open 2012 winner. As always classy, Roger sported blue-white combination which not only complimented blue clay, but looked great.

Yes, we know Sony Ericsson Open is in its peak, and we'll be coming with more reviews on fashion from the tournament. Fab Five. Best Dressed Tennis Players: Australian Open 2012

With continued stellar play from Mr. Djokovic and fun surprises like Leighton Hewitt’s 3rd round win over Milos Raonic, the 2012 Australian Open is proving to be a wonderful kick-off to the Grand Slam season! The only thing that could have made it better? A Williams-Roddick mixed-doubles pairing…but we are keeping our fingers crossed for the future.

Even though someone had the misguided idea to recall 1980s neon - with a majority of players blindly jumping on the bandwagon - we did find a few styles that we enjoyed at the Aussie Open…here is our Fab Five for 2012.
The Fed Express – 1st Prize…again…yawn. Roger is so put together that even his racquet matches. We have seen this exact outfit many, many times, however. And consistent perfection can get a little monotonous…well, almost. Check out Roger Federer's Style from our Australian Open 2012 Fashion Review.
Roger Federer, Australian Open 2012
A well-fitting short in a neutral color, a good amount of bright white and small colorful accents…classic, simple and best of all…no NEON – thank you, Ivo! 2nd Prize!
Ivo Karlovic, Australian Open 2012
Okay, we can forgive a little bit of neon. This simple dress is beautifully cut, and the well-placed, eye-popping green is kept to a minimum. Check out Maria's style at our Australian Open 2012 Fashion Review. 3rd Prize!
Maria Sharapova, Australian Open 2012
These snazzy K-Swiss shirts may have given the top-seeded Bryan brothers that extra bit of luck needed to move on to the semis. The brothers now have an opportunity to set a record with a 12th Grand Slam Championship….the second best thing that may happen to Bob Bryan this year. His wife is due to give birth to their first child at the end of this month! 4th Prize!
Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, Australian Open 2012
Serena already made our Wear This list with a stylish headband. This cute ensemble from Nike is well-fitting, cool and comfortable. If only the accessories actually matched the dress, Miss Williams would have the top spot! For now (sniffle) she will have to settle for… 5th Prize

Australian Open 2012 Tennis Fashion Day 10: Rafael Nadal vs. Roger Federer

It was one of the most expected matches recently. Tennis fans waited for it even more than for the final of Aussie Open. At last, two legends meet. Trendy Tennis Net News…The Latest Happenings and Headlines

Gaining his 18th straight victory, Roger Federer is setting his sights for his 17th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open later this month. After his 1st-round trouncing of Nikolay Davydenko in less than an hour in Doha at 6-2, 6-2, he gave notice to top-seeded Rafael Nadal. Rafa was given a bit of a scare in his first-round match against Phillip Kohlschreiber, finally pulling it out in two and a half hours to win 6-3, 6-7, 6-3.
Federer and Nadal launch the 2012 season in Doha, Qatar.
With a Grand-Slam title still eluding Andy Murray - the World’s No. 4 in Men’s Singles Tennis - the Scotsman has hired yet another coach, eight-time Grand-Slam winner, Ivan Lendl. "To me this is like Groundhog Day, I have been in this movie,” commented Lendl who did not win a Grand Slam championship until his fifth appearance in a Grand Slam final. Let’s hope that finally the cranky Scot has met his match. Is Andy setting his sights on a Wimbledon win in 2012? It remains to be seen: This is the ONLY Grand Slam that his new mentor did NOT win.

According to ESPN.com, Serena Williams (like her male counterpart, Andre Agassi) is surprisingly NOT a lover of the game of tennis. The 30 year old, 13-time Grand Slam winner has been ridiculed for her outside interests of acting and fashion design, but she has commented, according to TennisNow.com, that it’s these interests that keep her coming back to tennis…no doubt she needs the money to keep pursuing areas in which she shows far less talent!
Serena Williams – Looking fit on day two of the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament
Injury-plagued Kim Clijsters is participating in the season-opening Brisbane tournament after being out since last August. The Belgian fought ankle and abdominal problems for most of last year, but has confirmed her injuries have healed. She and Germany’s Andre Petkovic were among the players to reach the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Kim Clijsters fights back to top Ana Ivanovic 6-1, 1-6, 6-3 in Brisbane, Australia.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Tennis Fashion Hits (and Misses) in 2011 – “The Guys”

As tennis aficionados, we relish the running, serving, hitting and smashing that makes up a Grand Slam tournament. This year did not disappoint – there were plenty of action-packed moments! From a “fashionista” perspective however, we also enjoy gawking at (and of course, commenting on) the latest tennis styles. Here’s how the guys stacked up in 2011.

THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

Two shirts from the same company??

“Standard-issue” Roger Federer from Nike: understated and classic with just a hint of bright color to accent the clean and cool white fabric. As expected, a clear HIT!

Really Nike?? We are astonished that the company would claim this sleeveless T - the antithesis of the shirt above. It is all over the place! Poland’s Lukasz Kubot no doubt shopped the outlet sale for this mixed up MISS!

THE FRENCH OPEN - Dueling Misses

 Busy, busy, busy…MISS!

Referee or tennis player? That is the question. MISS!

WIMBLEDON

MISS! While Roger’s style is typically elegant and tasteful, we have our limits! A sweater vest on the practice court is over-the-top pretentious!

While still showing support for his sponsor, Andy is anything but pretentious in his Adidas garb…a playful and boisterous HIT!

THE U. S. OPEN
Unshaved, short-sleeved shirts with lined details, white caps…you’d think these guys were pals or something! Andy and Mardy both sport styles that are cool and comfortable HITS!

Keep an eye out for more commentary and fun articles in the coming 2012 season!!
