Tennis Fashion Wish List: Stunning Stripes

Indeed one of the classic and most sustained patterns in fashion is stripes. This style goes a long way back and continues to be reinvented in today's trendy world, even becoming popularly incorporated in tennis fashion. A fresh combination of colors and lines always provides a new striped design for shirts, skirts, dresses, bags, shoes, visors, and other accessories in tennis which are highly modern and stylish.

Here are several pieces of clothing and accessories in stunning stripes that you can use for your everyday practices or for your special games and tournaments:

This amazing track jacket for male tennis players in classic black will certainly have the girls looking over their shoulders to catch a glimpse of those broad shoulders and macho figure. Not only does it provide a great shape for men, but the simple yet striking design will surely provide additional attractiveness for when wearers are doing their warm-ups or playing in cold weather. In addition, the Climalite material made of 100% polyester maximizes comfort and a snug fit.

If you love stripes, this fusion of blue, green, and black from Lacoste will surely mesmerize you! This casual watch is ideal for sports as well as for simple dates and trips to the mall. It is comfortable, stylish, and durable. You can also be assured of top quality material that will last long.

Not only is this visor affordable and stylish, it has a nice fit with a hook and loop fastener strap for easy and convenient use. It is very useful for protecting your eyes and face from the glare of the sun while keeping your opponent at bay with your great tennis moves.

Many tennis fashionistas will surely fall in love with these comfortable, durable, and stylish shoes. Imagine playing your game as if you were barefoot, but with your feet kept protected. You can improve balance and agility with this kind of shoes! Enjoy the freedom too when you make use of these, as you feel lighter as you move around the courts.

For the masculine species of tennis players, a crew shirt like this can make them stand out. Not only does it make use of Climalite technology to keep you dry and cool, the combination of white with navy blue and red stripes is truly distinctive and trendy.

Do you want to look like a tennis fashion model on your next game? Perhaps this dress is for you, especially if you are playing during the summer. The soft and comfy cotton is good for hanging out on the courts and for simple exercises. At the same time, you can make the most of this dress because it is also great for casual wear.

Ten Fantastic Tennis Quotes

Even tennis enthusiasts sometimes need inspiration, especially when engaging in tournaments and when feeling down about their game. After all, such inspiration can give a great boost to one's game. Furthermore, the sport of tennis sometimes represents similarities to real life situations. Hence, it can provide a glimpse of life's ups and downs, uplifting your spirits and giving consolation when the world seems upside down.

Here are the top ten fantastic tennis quotes that can touch your heart and nourish your soul as you move along your tennis career and as you continue to embrace this sport:

1.
In life, there are very few people who truly and sincerely serve others. These people are usually the ones who are blessed more. The same goes for tennis players who know how to serve greatly on the court.

2. A perfect combination of violent action taking place in an atmosphere of total tranquility.  ~Billie Jean King, about tennis

Indeed this quote seems ironic, but is certainly true. What's great is that it is possible to be vicious on the court while maintaining a peaceful ambiance. Playing tennis certainly requires great passion.

3.
Doing something with love brings out amazing passion and rigor. When tennis is done with love, it brings out the best in you.

4. Speed in tennis is a strange mixture of intuition, guesswork, footwork and hair-trigger reflexes.  Many of the players famed for quickness on court would finish dead last in a field of schoolgirls in a race over any distance more than ten yards.  ~Eugene Scott

One of the most important skills you ought to develop in tennis is speed. However, this does not mean just being fast in a race. It requires a lot of other sub-skills rolled into one, so you can be an effective and proficient tennis player. In life, quickness in achieving your goals also entails many different things in order to be successful.

5.
In tennis, it is not the falls that matter but how well one rises. Therefore, you should never give up because of temporary failures. Surely the success that follows will make you a champion. The same goes in life.

6. Tennis belongs to the individualistic past - a hero, or at most a pair of friends or lovers, against the world.  ~Jacques Barzun

Your mindset when playing tennis must be like a hero of the past, striving to survive and to win the war. When you are playing doubles, pretend that you are friends or lovers fighting against the world. This way, you give every game your best shot!

7.
In order to be successful in tennis and in life, you must first feel and believe it. This is why confidence is key. However, great preparation is necessary. Start preparing now.

8. Why has slamming a ball with a racquet become so obsessive a pleasure for so many of us?  It seems clear to me that a primary attraction of the sport is the opportunity it gives to release aggression physically without being arrested for felonious assault.  ~Nat Hentoff

Tennis can be an effective venue for releasing all your pent-up emotions, especially the negative ones. When playing this sport, you can release all your stress and anger, and bring out your animalistic tendencies without feeling guilty.

9.
Do you really understand what true heroism stands for? More than beating others, what counts the most is serving others.

10. The mark of great sportsmen is not how good they are at their best, but how good they are at their worst. - Martina Navratilova

This fantastic quote gives emphasis not only on skill, but on the character of a person. It is said that a wonderful person is seen and tested when he is in the worst situation. In a similar way, when you are out there on the courts, being able to overcome your negative disposition is a true mark of your greatness.

Five Fashion Flops of the 2012 U.S. Open

While there are many tennis traditionalists who hold firm that fashion “has not a thing to do with tennis” (or any other sport for that matter), we espouse that - in fact - it does! Why? Simply put:

1. People generally are more confident when they look and feel attractive.
2. Confidence = better performance in sports.

That said, not everyone has good taste, and that’s where we come in. We keep hoping that certain individuals will take note (and some of them have), but alas…others continually find themselves on our worst-dressed list. Without further ado, here are our Five Fashion Flops of the 2012 U. S. Open:

These “tops” (below) are cute, but as dresses they are not. We dub this choice…DUELING DIAPERS!
Varvara Lepchenko, U.S. Open 2012

Pauine Parmentier, U.S. Open 2012

Head-to-toe FIASCO…it’s not just the blue braid – this shade can be pretty in a short, sleek bob. It’s the whole enchilada…hair, knee socks, ill-fitting tank, high-top shoes. Continual note to Bethanie: You are a grown woman, not a teenaged boy!
Bethanie Mattek-Sands, U.S. Open 2012

Bethanie Mattek-Sands, U.S. Open 2012

Radek Stepanek, U.S. Open 2012

It’s one thing to give a nod to the USA, but this is going just a tad overboard! Just wondering Radek, do you have Roger Federer’s phone number?

Santiago Giraldo, U.S. Open 2012

Here we have a whole lotta nothin’ going on! Recommendations: 1. Smaller sponsor logos. 2. Plain, white hat. 3. Shorter underwear or longer, all-black shorts. That’s it.

U. S. Open Fashionistas – Fab Five in 2012

We miss you, Rafael Nadal. We miss watching you zip back and forth across the court, we miss your good nature, but as a regular on our Fab Five list, most of all…we miss your style! Nevertheless, we did find five deserving candidates for this year’s list, and our apologies to the Williams sisters. Because they were mentioned in another of our U. S Open posts, we wanted to give accolades to additional deserving candidates – but again, you did look terrific this year ladies…please keep up the good work! All of our lucky choices this year looked great, so here they are in no particular order.

Roger Federer, U.S. Open 2012

With a nod to the good old US of A, Roger Federer looks dapper in this red, white and blue ensemble. As usual, Roger’s attention to detail - with the bright-red accented sleeves and pockets - is phenomenal…ACE! Check out Roger's styles in more detail here.
From day to night, Maria’s
choices this year were spot on!!
 We particularly love the light
pink day outfit…a lovely
complement to her rosy
skin tone!
Check out Maria's style in more
detail in our fashion review.
Angelique Kerber, U.S. Open 2012

A Fab Five first-timer, Angelique Kerber is bright (but not too bright) and lively in this smart getup from Adidas! Sadly, it takes more than a cute outfit to defeat the feisty Sara Errani!

Na Li, U.S. Open 2012

With a tasteful blend of bright color and crisp, clean white, Na Li is pretty in pink! Check out her style here.

Sporting a stylish combination of white and navy with subtle orange accents, Andy Murray is comfortably classic…well done, old chap! Check out Andys' adidas style in our review.

US Open 2012 Tennis Fashion. Day 12: Maria Sharapova's Day And Night Fashion

Maria Sharapova hasn't advanced to the final of 2012 U.S. Open defeated by Victoria Azarenka. Victoria and Maria have played 3 times already this year before the U.S. Open and Vika won two of those matches, including a shocking win at Australian Open, when she bageled Maria in the second set winning 6:3, 6:0. Since we won't see Maria in the final, it's time to review her outfit created by Nike especially for Maria.

As usual, Nike created two styles - one for day plays, and the other for her night matches.
