Wimbledon Odds: In Whose Favor Are They?

With so many unexpected outcomes during the French Open (except probably the fact of who would be a champion), everyone is interested in Wimbledon odds. We'd like to take a look at all the possibilities and analyse what to expect.

On the men's side:

1. Roger Federer. A couple of years ago one would have little doubt that "King Roger" would win the trophy. Besides, he is the last year champion. But lately Roger's performance was not that good and his early elimination in French Open didn't give us confidence about his capability to win the Wimbledon.

2. Rafael Nadal. The king of clay is not playing that good on the grass surface, though he is definitely one of the favorites and we can surely envision him as a winner of Wimbledon. Again.

3. Novak Djokovic will surely do anything that in his power to win the trophy once again and gain more confidence for the next Grand Slam.

4. Andy Murray is undoubtedly the most favorite player in the tournament. His last year Olympic gold medal earned on grass, and support from all his countrymen makes him a likely candidate for this year Wimbledon trophy.

On the women's side:

1. Serena Williams. One would think that something really unexpected should happen for Serena not to defend her last year trophy and become Wimbledon winner again. I'd put most odds in her favor.

2. Maria Sharapova should stay focused and play a really great game to win the tournament. Though if she is "lucky" enough to play with Serena the odds would not probably be in her favor.

3. Victoria Azarenka might beat Maria, but will she be able to withstand Serena's power? We are about to see in a while...

U. S. Open Fashionistas – Fab Five in 2012

We miss you, Rafael Nadal. We miss watching you zip back and forth across the court, we miss your good nature, but as a regular on our Fab Five list, most of all…we miss your style! Nevertheless, we did find five deserving candidates for this year’s list, and our apologies to the Williams sisters. Because they were mentioned in another of our U. S Open posts, we wanted to give accolades to additional deserving candidates – but again, you did look terrific this year ladies…please keep up the good work! All of our lucky choices this year looked great, so here they are in no particular order.

Roger Federer, U.S. Open 2012

With a nod to the good old US of A, Roger Federer looks dapper in this red, white and blue ensemble. As usual, Roger’s attention to detail - with the bright-red accented sleeves and pockets - is phenomenal…ACE! Check out Roger's styles in more detail here.
From day to night, Maria’s
choices this year were spot on!!
 We particularly love the light
pink day outfit…a lovely
complement to her rosy
skin tone!
Check out Maria's style in more
detail in our fashion review.
Angelique Kerber, U.S. Open 2012

A Fab Five first-timer, Angelique Kerber is bright (but not too bright) and lively in this smart getup from Adidas! Sadly, it takes more than a cute outfit to defeat the feisty Sara Errani!

Na Li, U.S. Open 2012

With a tasteful blend of bright color and crisp, clean white, Na Li is pretty in pink! Check out her style here.

Sporting a stylish combination of white and navy with subtle orange accents, Andy Murray is comfortably classic…well done, old chap! Check out Andys' adidas style in our review.

US Open 2012 Tennis Fashion. Day 12: Maria Sharapova's Day And Night Fashion

Maria Sharapova hasn't advanced to the final of 2012 U.S. Open defeated by Victoria Azarenka. Victoria and Maria have played 3 times already this year before the U.S. Open and Vika won two of those matches, including a shocking win at Australian Open, when she bageled Maria in the second set winning 6:3, 6:0. Since we won't see Maria in the final, it's time to review her outfit created by Nike especially for Maria.

As usual, Nike created two styles - one for day plays, and the other for her night matches.

Wimbledon 2012 Tennis Fashion. Day 8: Maria Sharapova

It seems like every day of 2012 Wimbledon we have a defeat of some top player who could have won the tournament. Today it's Maria Sharapova. Maria has really been a Wimbledon favorite after she won French Open this year, but she hasn't even got to the quarterfinal, defeated by Sabine Lisicki.

Nike, as usual, created special dress for Maria, which actually resembled her Australian Open dress having same colors - white and lime.

French Open 2012 Tennis Fashion. Women's Final: Maria Sharapova

Maria is back to the top, and moreover, with a Grand Slam again! 2012 French Open was very lucky for Maria, it brought her first place in WTA ranking, a trophy, and career Grand Slam, as French Open was the only Grand Slam tournament Maria didn't win!

We've been waiting for 2 weeks for this day to write about Maria's fashion. As usual, it is very classy. This time REALLY classy - little black dress and even a jacket which doesn't resemble sport clothing at all... (unfortunately we weren't able to find a picture of Maria in the jacket, but we are sure, those who watched the tournament have noticed it).

Maria Sharapova's French Open 2012 Dress Already In Stores

The dress Maria Sharapova will sport during the French Open 2012 is already in stores. A "little black dress" for tennis surely looks great on Maria.

I personally think that it would be great to have black and lime shoes to compliment this dress, similar to Roger Federer's French Open 2012 shoes, Nike Zoom Vapor 9 Tout SL, but Nike chose white-red combination for Maria...

Shop for Maria's outfit even before she hit the Paris courts.

Sharapova, Williams Sisters, Kournikova and Steffi Graf as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Models

Sports Illustrated gathered the pictures of what they called "Athlete/Celebrity Swimsuit Models" where they published the pictures of well-known athletes in swimsuits. Among the tennis players, the models were Russian beauties Maria Sharapova and Anna Kournikova, American icons Venus and Serena Williams, and one of the greatest tennis players of all times Steffi Graf. Maria Sharapova at Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Tennis Look Of The Week

The best look of this week goes to Maria Sharapova, who not only proved herself to be the best athlete on this year's Stuttgart's courts, but sported the most stylish look of all this week. The red and black combination looked just stunning on Maria and it will definitely compliment any lady, regardless of complexion.

Fab Five. Best Dressed Tennis Players: Australian Open 2012

With continued stellar play from Mr. Djokovic and fun surprises like Leighton Hewitt’s 3rd round win over Milos Raonic, the 2012 Australian Open is proving to be a wonderful kick-off to the Grand Slam season! The only thing that could have made it better? A Williams-Roddick mixed-doubles pairing…but we are keeping our fingers crossed for the future.

Even though someone had the misguided idea to recall 1980s neon - with a majority of players blindly jumping on the bandwagon - we did find a few styles that we enjoyed at the Aussie Open…here is our Fab Five for 2012.
The Fed Express – 1st Prize…again…yawn. Roger is so put together that even his racquet matches. We have seen this exact outfit many, many times, however. And consistent perfection can get a little monotonous…well, almost. Check out Roger Federer's Style from our Australian Open 2012 Fashion Review.

A well-fitting short in a neutral color, a good amount of bright white and small colorful accents…classic, simple and best of all…no NEON – thank you, Ivo! 2nd Prize!
Ivo Karlovic, Australian Open 2012
Okay, we can forgive a little bit of neon. This simple dress is beautifully cut, and the well-placed, eye-popping green is kept to a minimum. Check out Maria's style at our Australian Open 2012 Fashion Review. 3rd Prize!

These snazzy K-Swiss shirts may have given the top-seeded Bryan brothers that extra bit of luck needed to move on to the semis. The brothers now have an opportunity to set a record with a 12th Grand Slam Championship….the second best thing that may happen to Bob Bryan this year. His wife is due to give birth to their first child at the end of this month! 4th Prize!
Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, Australian Open 2012
Serena already made our Wear This list with a stylish headband. This cute ensemble from Nike is well-fitting, cool and comfortable. If only the accessories actually matched the dress, Miss Williams would have the top spot! For now (sniffle) she will have to settle for… 5th Prize

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: Tennis Fashion Hits (and Misses) in 2011 – “The Gals”

Although we love all of the action that a good Grand Slam brings, part of the fun is catching up on the latest on-court styles. Check out our play-by-play hits and misses for 2011!

THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN

While there were a few comely outfits turned out by a couple of female players at the Aussie Open, we wanted to give attention to a couple of SERIOUS misses…in hopes that we never have to see them (or anything like them) again!

 MISS
This monstrosity posing as a “tennis dress” features some very obvious problems: the fit, the back zipper which looks like it was constructed by a 6th grade sewing student and an overall absence of class or style… yikes!!!

MISS
Is Kim Clijster’s taste level really this bad, or is she simply too nice to say, “NO” to her long-time sponsor? A little green goes a long way! Just a button-collar, white, cotton shirt would have made all the difference!

THE FRENCH OPEN

HIT
Fresh and fun…we love the pop of color and bright white accents in this Adidas outfit, tastefully put together by Maria Kirilenko! Our grade: A+++

In the battle of the big sponsors, this one-shouldered, Nike dress thrown over a black sports bra is just a sad, frilly MISS or mess…whichever way you want to view it!

WIMBLEDON

Blond vs. Blond: While Miss Sharapova sports a very comfortable, classic and well-fitting HIT, Miss Mattek-Sands is, as usual, SANS style in this unattractive and distracting MISS!!! One word: “Ugh!”

THE U.S. OPEN

Julia Goerges is full of focus in this cute, comfy and sporty ensemble (left), a definite HIT, while Nadia Petrova decked in a multi-colored MISS (right) prays for much-needed style!

Stay Tuned for Part Two - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Tennis Fashion Hits (and Misses) in 2011 – “The Guys”
